Check out this exclusive look at our happy team and everything we do to make positivity a daily part of our lives.
The Dawn of Smile TV
At the tender age of twelve, Sandy Pedeflous noticed that her news-obsessed parents did not like what they saw on television but, like a train wreck, could not look away. She imagined a news program that only showed content that would inspire and encourage viewers, an idea that her parents dismissed as “no one would watch it.”
Years later, after a lucrative but spiritually-bankrupt career in Hollywood, Sandy received her wakeup call. The world was in a sorry state and needed a booster of positivity. Why weren’t we hearing more about the organizations cleaning up the coasts, or feeding the homeless, or teaching valuable life skills to people with special needs? It was time to revive Smile TV, a programming network that only focuses on the positives.
Our Happy Smile TV Team
After Smile TV became a reality, its mission for building positivity immediately began to attract similarly-minded people. Ricky Powell had spent over twenty years in a lucrative yet unfulfilling position with a major television network. Known as “America’s Number One Happiness Guy,” Ricky met Sandy at a Smile TV sponsored event and immediately got on board with the idea of using video to spread happiness across the globe.
Today Ricky heads business development at Smile TV, bringing his characteristic humor and passion for pumpkins to the workplace environment.
Promoting a Positive Work Environment
Smile TV is based in Simi Valley, California, also known as Smile Valley, and built around a fun, familial office culture. Firstly, all animals are welcome. After all, Sophie the Smile Dog is the company mascot and chief very-good-therapy dog for humans. Secondly, random acts of goofiness are encouraged, whether shenanigans in the green screen room, inflatable limbo in the situation room, or just changing everyone’s name for a day and seeing who can remember.
Of course, as in any business, there are days when deadlines must be met or flat tires occur on the way into the office. In times like these, Smile TV has the Jar of Positive Transformation. Gripes about life cost a dollar. Each dollar in the jar has to be accompanied with a piece of paper that puts a more positive spin on each complaint. Every quarter, we donate all dollars to a local animal shelter, turning sourness into something sweet.
