Every year, I encounter the great big hot time when it gets even warmer than it usually is in the Smile Valley, and it is no fun at all. But since I am a very smart and very good dog, I know lots of ways to stay nice and cool during the great big hot time. I will tell you right away: they all mean you have to get wet!
I like to get as much water all around me as I can. The mostest water is the bestest water, but in the very big dry time of California, I make less water work like more water.
The best thing about water is it splashes all around, and it is the opposite of hot. The water is always nice and cold, it always makes me a nice and cold therapy dog for wetness.
Yum! It is even nice to lick up the cold water. Everything cold tastes yummily in the great big hot time. When I lick up cold water, I am getting my insides wet, I feel twice as cool as I did before.
Shaking keeps me just the right amount of wet. A good shake means my ears flap around my face, and the most importantest thing about a good shake is that it means water goes flying everywhere. I like to do this because it means I am a very good giving dog, since I am giving wetness and coolness to everyone around me. When humans are standing near me when I shake, they love it. They always make lots of noise and put their arms out in front of them to get the most wetness. Sharing is caring!
Today, the tiny humans were very good about understanding sharing and they gave me wetness with their water toys. What lots of funness! Water was all over everywhere, and it was like the great big hot time went all the way away.
Say, these human water toys are lots great. It is always exciting to see what tiny human toys look like. They are just as much great as some of my very special dog toys. But these human toys are better for today, because they are keeping me nice and wet and cool and happy. Thank you for showing them to me, tiny humans!
At the end of the day, if there are no tiny humans around to share their wetness, standing in the water room of my house and putting cold water on myself is much nice and works too. It is especially fun for me because I get to be very stylish and wear a special hat just for wet times.
How do you stay cool in the great big hot time? Do you like to do any of the things that I like to do? I’d love to get lots more ideas. Tell me in a comment or at firstname.lastname@example.org.
