All Aboard at Relaxation Station
We are all cosmic passengers on a wild freight train known as life, carried about by a spinning blue and green ball known as the Earth. When we got on this train umpteen million years ago, no one knew where it’d take us, and for the most part even the best prognosticator couldn’t tell us all the details that this grand old world has in store for us all.
But sometimes we feel like we can’t really relax; the world moves so fast that we are constantly running, and you know what, none of us are machines. We all need that well deserved R&R, but sometimes it’s hard to get into the zone of relaxation. Sometimes we feel that we haven’t earned it, we haven’t succeeded enough to warrant that relaxation. Well you know what? That’s crazy. We all work a lot harder than we give ourselves credit for, and regardless of how much we accomplish, we all have persevered more than we generally admit to ourselves.
So think of this as your Golden Ticket to mental freedom. You have permission to take that load off your back, unwind and hop off that busy metaphorical train for a bit. I have never met someone who didn’t work hard. Truthfully, my definition of “working hard” may be painted with a broader stroke than most, but that’s neither here nor there. No one other than you can define just what is hard work, for some people getting out of bed is hard. For others, it’s the daily grind of driving (particularly if you’re ever on the 405 freeway), and still others are exhausted from interaction with the world. I could go on and on, but that isn’t the point of this.
Today’s golden point is that no matter what stressors get to you, whatever curve ball life throws, you deserve to rest and relax, a chance to ease those burdens, no matter what they may be. I know that sometimes you want to dismiss those pains as nothing, but sometimes those little things get to you just as much as the big things, but again that isn’t important. The important thing is that today, you have permission to relax. Really relax and let the weight slip off your shoulders. I know sometimes I feel like I haven’t earned the right to, but really that’s just a crazy thought. Of course you’ve earned that, so today lets hop off that metaphorical stress train and just breathe deeply in… and out.
