Some days ago I was asked by a friend “What would you do if you were given a billion dollars, but had to spend it all in a year?” Aside from it being a strange question, it did get me thinking. After all, there are so many possibilities.
For me, my immediate first thought was to rent out a large theater and hire my friends to join me in putting on a couple dozen performances. Many of my friends and fellow actors are in school and could use some extra bread in their pockets and bellies. The techies I know, as well, almost always need some new light or sound board or amplifier. In truth, the money aspect is oftentimes the only limiting factor when it comes to putting on a show. But you know, a billion dollars is a lot of money, and there’s way more to do than just my primary dream project.
I don’t know how much it’d cost to open up a couple Soup Kitchens, but I think I’d like to do that. Before you scratch your head and ask if those still exist, the answer is yes, they do, but they are often too few and far between to feed everyone in need. Does everyone want to eat soup? No, but when your options are either starving in the street or finding a soup kitchen, more often than not you’re going to go for the soup. In truth, I can’t help but feel a bit guilty that this isn’t my first choice with a billion bucks at my disposal.
So at this point, I’m going to pose the Billion Dollar Question to you. The spotlight’s on you, what is it going to be? Please leave a comment, and let’s see what a billion dollars could do!
