As I walked to work this morning, shuffling through the busy streets of New York City, my ipod was on full blast, my walk was steady, and my mind was focused on finding the less crowded side of the street so that I may make it to work with enough time to grab some tea and settle into my day. Such is a recurring sight in New York—for the most part people walk with a sense of purpose and dizzying speed. Hey! We are all just trying to go somewhere and make it there on time! Which is why I was glad to be abruptly pulled out of my hurried daze by a man on the street who was handing out roses to all of the ladies who walked by. Some ladies grinned and accepted the red rose while others were too busy to stop and so politely extended their hand and declined. It was interesting to observe how a beautiful moment can find you at anytime, if you are willing to accept it. I took out my headphones, thanked the nice man, and accepted the rose with a big smile. I quite literally stopped in the business of my day to smell the roses!
